What does an SEO agency actually do?

A real SEO agency works on three fronts simultaneously: on-page SEO (content, titles, internal structure), technical SEO (site speed, crawlability, schema, mobile performance), and off-page SEO (backlinks, citations, brand mentions). Anyone selling you just one of those is doing 1/3 of the job. See our full SEO breakdown.

How long does SEO take to show results?

Plan on 3 to 6 months for meaningful traffic increases and 6 to 12 months for first-page rankings on competitive keywords. Local SEO can move faster — sometimes inside 60 days. Anyone promising page-one rankings in 30 days is either lying or selling something that won't last. Read more on our homepage FAQ.

What's the difference between on-page, off-page, and technical SEO?

On-page covers what's on your pages — titles, headings, content, internal links. Technical covers how Google crawls and renders your site — speed, mobile rendering, structured data, indexing. Off-page covers signals from elsewhere on the web — backlinks, citations, mentions, reviews. All three feed the same ranking algorithm.

Are backlinks still important in 2026?

Yes, but quality matters far more than it used to. A handful of contextual links from trusted, relevant sites will outperform hundreds of low-quality directory links. Google's algorithms got very good at detecting manipulation, so the era of buying cheap link packages is over. Authoritative coverage, digital PR, and earned mentions are what move rankings now.

How is AI changing SEO?

AI changes how people search, not whether they search. Google's AI Overviews and tools like ChatGPT pull from the same pool of well-structured, authoritative content that ranks in classic search. Sites that earn trust still get cited — they're just cited inside AI answers now. Our SEO process is designed for both. Pair this with our AI Assistants service to handle the traffic SEO sends you.

What is keyword intent and why does it matter?

Keyword intent is the goal behind a search. The four classic categories are informational ("how does SEO work"), navigational ("eDigishark login"), commercial ("best SEO agency"), and transactional ("hire SEO agency San Jose"). We target transactional and commercial keywords for revenue, and use informational content to build authority. Mismatching intent is why most SEO content fails.

Should I do local SEO or national SEO?

If your customers come to you (or you go to them) within a defined service area, you need local SEO — including Google Business Profile optimization and city-targeted content. If you sell nationally or online, you need national SEO, which is more competitive and link-dependent. Some businesses need both. See our Local SEO FAQ for the distinction.

How do I know if my SEO is working?

Track four things: keyword rankings for your target terms, organic traffic in Google Analytics, qualified leads coming from organic sources, and conversion rate on landing pages. Vanity metrics like overall traffic spikes don't matter if the new visitors don't become customers. Ask us for a free SEO audit.
